Paris Arbitration Academy

Ever since its inception in 2011, the International Academy for Arbitration Law in Paris has counted with the support of the MIDS. For many years, the MIDS offered a scholarhip to one of the students attending its program each summer. In more recent years, the MIDS has sponsored a cocktail during the Paris Arbitration Academy. The cocktail is preceded by a presentation of the program by members of the MIDS staff and is organized with the support of the ICC.

The Arbitration Academy provides advanced summer courses in Paris to students and young practitioners interested in international arbitration. The program is conceived by international arbitration academics and practitioners to cover the main aspects of international arbitration and the courses are taught by some of the most renowned experts in the fields of international commercial and investment arbitration.

Core MIDS professors such as Prof. Gabrielle Kaufmann-Kohler and Zachary Douglas, and many of MIDS visiting faculty have contributed to the Academy by delivering its General Course or some of its Special Courses. Moreover, Prof. Kaufmann-Kohler is a member of its Advisory Board.

This yearlong cooperation with the Arbitration Academy has proven fruitful. More and more MIDS applicants are recruited from candidates who have attended the Arbitration Academy prior to their admission to the MIDS. Having completed the Academy in Paris is a good basis for the more extensive and thorough training provided by the MIDS.

The MIDS highly encourages anyone with a general interest in international arbitration, and also with a particular interest in being better prepared to undertake the MIDS, to enroll in the Arbitration Academy in Paris.
