Biography

Attorney at Law specialized in international dispute settlement. In partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Law at the MIDS, I submitted a thesis under the supervision of Professor Gabrielle Kaufmann Kohler named “Withdrawal of States' Consent to ICSID Arbitration, Perspectives from the Bolivian and Ecuadorian cases”, which was published by Transnational Dispute Management (TDM). Regarding my proffesional experience, I have worked in a number of arbitration proceedings, under ICSID and the UNCITRAL Rules, due to my work at the Attorney General´s Office of Ecuador, as supervising attorney of several arbitration proceedings, including cases as Texaco Petroleum and Chevron Corporation v. Ecuador, Cooper Mesa Mining v. Ecuador, Occidental Petroleum Corporation v. Ecuador, Burlington Resources Inc v. Ecuador, Perenco Ecuador Ltd. v. Ecuador, the State‐to‐ State arbitration initiated by the Republic of Ecuador against the United States of America, among others. Previously, I worked for a two years’ period at the offices in London and Washington, DC, of Winston & Strawn LLP. The firm represents Ecuador in the Chevron case. At the moment, I am working as an Advisor to the Ecuadorian Attorney General in the most complex cases of the State. My work requires me to follow up, approximately, 500 cases and to advise the Attorney General about the strategy and defense that should be implemented.
