Biography

Sebastian is an associate with German law firm Luther in Hamburg and a visiting lecturer and doctoral candidate at Ruhr-University Bochum’s School of Law. He studied law in Bochum (Dipl.-iur. ’12), Geneva (MIDS ’14) and at the Hague Academy of International Law (private international law summer course ’14 & public international law summer course and directed studies ’17). During his studies, he, inter alia, interned with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in Düsseldorf and the Representation of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia to the EU in Brussels. Since 2014, he has been a member of Luther’s international arbitration group, where he assists domestic and foreign clients in complex arbitral proceedings. The focus of his work is on arbitral proceedings that are based on public international law (mainly investment arbitrations) or in which a government or State is involved. He regularly publishes and speaks at conferences on topics of investment law, arbitration and general international law.
