Biography

Gevorg Tumanov holds Bachelor of Laws and Specialist degrees from Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO-University), International Law Department (2008). In 2013 he completed Master in International Dispute Settlement, LLM from Geneva University/Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (Switzerland). In 2014 Gevorg got his PhD on International Law at Yerevan State University.
In 2012 he took Advance Defense Resources Management Course at Naval Postgraduate School (Monterey, California, USA). In 2013 he has successfully completed FIAA – International Arbitration Advocacy Course (Geneva, Switzerland).
Gevorg has participated in many professional trainings and special workshops in Armenia, Russia, USA, France, Switzerland, Germany, Estonia, Belgium and Netherlands. He has published series of articles both in national and in international periodical publications. He is awarded with Medal of Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia.
Gevorg's client list is international and includes GGICO (UAE), Danone (The Netherlands), Gazprom (Russia), Rosneft (Russia), Honda Motor Co. (Japan), Vinci Construction (France). He advised several Banks and Government on a wide range of finance transactions, including traditional commercial lending, structured and acquisition finance, as well as asset-based financings and project finance. Meanwhile, he has worked for a broad spectrum of clients, both high-net-worth individuals and multi-national corporate entities. Gevorg has experience of providing legal and financial tools for making investments in many industries across the world, as well as commercial and investment arbitrations conducted in accordance with the rules of ICC, UNCITRAL and investment-state arbitration (ICSID). He was invited to work on several major anti-dumping and anti-subsidy actions for Russian and Eurasian Economic Union’s industries, notably in relation to the European Union and China.
He advised on various corporate law issues and is regularly involved in due diligence, having particular expertise in transactions involving airports, infrastructure, and trade centers. He has wide experience in M&A, corporate governance matters, and real-estate transactions.
He was also involved in shaping arbitration and investment law of Armenia and the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union.
Gevorg is a sought-after speaker, and lectures on international private law, international arbitration and Eurasian Economic Union’s law at several Universities in Russia and Armenia. He is a regular speaker at client seminars and international conferences on international investment law.
