Biography

Trishna is a dual-qualified international disputes lawyer (India, England & Wales), with four years of professional experience. Before joining the MIDS, she worked with the Government of India’s Centre for Trade and Investment Law, New Delhi, which advises the government on matters of international economic law. She has also worked with the International Trade and Investment Law practice of Clarus Law Associates, New Delhi, one of the few Indian law firms empanelled by India’s Ministry of Finance to represent the State in investor-State disputes.

In these roles, Trishna advised and represented sovereign and private clients in complex high-value investor-State and commercial arbitrations under major institutional rules, and in disputes before WTO panels. She also has significant experience in treaty negotiation, having been part of the delegations negotiating India’s new generation of free trade agreements, including the free trade agreements with the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom. Apart from contentious and advisory matters, and treaty negotiations, she has worked on diverse transactional matters in the energy, infrastructure and natural resources sector.

Trishna holds a bachelor’s degree in law (LL.B., first-class honours) from Gujarat National Law University, India (2018), specialising in international economic law, and certificates from the World Trade Institute (2018) and the Paris Arbitration Academy (2018), where she was the recipient of the WTI-CWS Joint Academy Scholarship and the Teynier Pic Scholarship, respectively.
