Biography

Efemena is a Nigerian-qualified lawyer with considerable experience in Dispute Resolution (Commercial Litigation & Arbitration). 

Before enrolling at the MIDS, he worked as an Associate at Strachan Partners, a foremost commercial law firm in Lagos, Nigeria for four years. In this role, he represented the firm’s local and international clients before trial and appellate courts in Nigeria, and domestic and international arbitral tribunals in ad-hoc and institutional proceedings.

He also has a background in legal education, having served as a lecturer at the Nigerian Law School, and in law reform, having served as Interim Coordinator at the Justice Reform Project, a Nigerian not-for-profit initiative. Efemena has earned numerous recognitions for his work, most notably being a finalist at the 2020 Future Award Prize for Lawyers and the Most Promising Newcomer (Private Practice) Prize at the 2020 Africa Legal Awards.

He has earned numerous prizes for his advocacy, including emerging Best Advocate at the Lagos Court of Arbitration International Arbitration Moot, an adaption of the Vis Moot.
