Founder and Lead Partner of Kwak & Co.
Kyung Jik is the founder and lead partner of Kwak & Company, a boutique firm focused on dispute resolution, which celebrated its 10th anniversary in January, 2019. After three years of mandatory military service as a judge advocate at the Korean Air Force (captain), he was appointed as a judge at the Seoul Eastern District Court. He subsequently served as a judge at the Seoul Civil District Court and then the Seoul High Court, and as a constitutional research office at the Constitutional Court. He began to practice law as a senior partner at Bae, Kim & Lee. He studied law at Seoul National University (LL.B. and LL.M.), Judicial Research & Training Institute (two year mandatory program to get qualified), Columbia Law School (LL.M.) and Yale Law School (Visiting Fulbright Scholar). He is fond of learning (not particularly law, though) and happy to be back at school. Hiking is essential routine, and he loves places like Venice, Nantucket, where people used to sally forth into the ocean.
