Prof. Nicolas Michel
President of the Iran-United States Claims Tribunal
A former professor of international law at the Geneva University Law Faculty, the Geneva Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, and the Fribourg University Law Faculty, Professor Nicolas Michel will share personal reflexions on the relationship between peaceful dispute settlement mechanisms and the promotion of peace, based on experiences he was given to make in the exercise of a whole range of diverse responsibilities:
Under-Secretary-General for Legal Affairs, the Legal Counsel of the United Nations; Senior Advisor to the Secretary-General as Mediator; Arbitrator in Inter-State arbitrations, as well as Director of the International Law Directorate of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.
A cocktail was served after the Lecture.
