Biography

Ekaterina Shkarbuta is a Belarusian qualified lawyer, holding the Graduate Diploma in International Law from the Belarusian State University.

Prior to joining the MIDS Ekaterina worked as an associate in SBH Law Office for 4 years, involved in legal support of investment projects in Belarus and cross-border investment projects, representation of clients in judicial and arbitration process in corporate, construction disputes and investor-state disputes, M&A projects, AML/CFT compliance.

Ekaterina is founding member of European Law Student Association (ELSA) in Belarus and coordinator of the international public and investment law section of Young ADR Belarus. She is participant of Stockholm Treaty Lab 2017-2018 edition, the project aimed at drafting model international treaty aiming to boost green investment.

She has participated in Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in 2015-2016 and, with her team, she reached an octa-final and won the 2nd best Written Memorial Prize. Ekaterina acted as coach of teams for Jessup, FIAMC and FDI Moot Courts, served as a judge in the competition on the law of Eurasian Economic Union.

Ekaterina speaks English, Russian and Belarusian and has intermediate knowledge of German.
