Biography

Alefiyah is an India qualified lawyer who was previously working with Keystone Partners, Advocates & Solicitors - a boutique law firm in Bombay, India. She has 3 years’ experience of handling commercial arbitrations, both ad hoc and institutional, conducted under the UNCITRAL, SIAC rules of arbitration and Indian Arbitration and Conciliation Act. She has also represented clients in associated litigation before courts such as challenges to, and enforcement of, arbitral awards. She also has significant experience in commercial and civil litigation and has represented clients before the Bombay High Court and in the National Company Law Tribunal, in disputes arising out of various contracts. Her areas of work have also included constitutional law, insolvency, partnership, testamentary and consumer disputes.

She obtained her BA.LL.B. degree from ILS Law College, Pune University. After winning the 15th Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot and an honorable mention for best speaker, she has consistently been mentoring various teams for national and international moot court competitions. She holds a diploma from the Institute of U.N. Studies on the working and functioning of the United Nations and also serves as an associate-editor of an arbitration law blog.
