Biography

Arianna is a Costa Rican lawyer with a background in dispute settlement and investment. She obtained her JD at the University of Costa Rica and holds a master´s degree in trade and international markets from LEAD University (Costa Rica). She has worked as an advisor for the Dispute Settlement Team of the Ministry of Foreign Trade of Costa Rica since 2015, and participates in the administration, analysis, and defense of investment arbitrations in which Costa Rica acts as Respondent State.

Additionally, she has intervened as advisor in trade disputes both under regional mechanisms and before the World Trade Organization. Arianna has been one of Costa Rica´s delegates before UNCITRAL´s Working Group III since 2017, which discusses the reform of the ISDS system, and has been an advisor during the Rule Amendment Project launched by ICSID. In addition, she has been Costa Rica´s delegate before the Working Group on Responsible Business Conduct of the Investment Committee of the OECD and lead the National Contact Point of Costa Rica for the Guidelines on Responsible Business Conduct from 2018 to 2021.
